Open Settings at the bottom of the sidebar. During a meeting, select More, then Settings. Changes save as you make them and apply on this device. Your account settings follow you everywhere.
General
- Language: FaceOn's language.
- Time format: 12-hour or 24-hour times.
- Time zone: the zone meeting times show in. It starts as your device's.
- Theme: light, dark, or matching your device. The meeting room is always dark, so video stands out.
- Install the app: adds FaceOn to your home screen, dock or taskbar, or says how in your browser. See Install FaceOn as an app.
Dates follow your browser's region, so you'll see "Sunday 1 November" or "Sunday, November 1", whichever you're used to.
Audio
Choose your microphone and speaker, watch the microphone meter, and select Test speaker to hear a short sound. Noise suppression keeps typing, fans, traffic and background voices out of the meeting: Standard (the default: your browser's own, for steady noise), Strong (on your device, for typing, traffic and voices too) or Off. Push to talk lets you hold Space to talk while muted; it's off unless you turn it on.
Video
See your camera, choose which one to use, and decide whether to mirror your video, send HD video, or start meetings with your camera off.
Backgrounds and effects
Blur what's behind you, or choose a picture, a moving background or your own image or video, with a live preview. It's used in every meeting on this device. See Backgrounds and effects.
Reactions
Choose whether others' reactions show (yours always do), whether reactions float up the screen, whether a soft sound plays with each, and what screen readers hear: nothing, a short summary at most every 10 seconds, or each reaction.
Notifications
Choose which events make a sound (people joining and leaving, chat messages, raised hands, the waiting room) and which show a pop-up.
Sounds, pop-ups and reminders, at the top, pauses them all at once, the reaction sound and meeting reminders too. Your other choices stay as they are and come back when you turn it on again. What screen readers hear about reactions doesn't change, and people asking to join still show under Participants.
Meeting reminders remind you 5, 10 or 15 minutes before meetings you host or are invited to, while FaceOn is open in a tab. Allow notifications to get them in any tab. Calendar files you add from a meeting carry the same reminder, so your calendar reminds you even when FaceOn is closed.
Calendar
Connect Google Calendar, and meetings you schedule go on your calendar, with Google emailing the people you invite. Your changes and cancellations reach everyone's calendar. Select Disconnect to stop: events already in your calendar stay there, but FaceOn stops updating them. See Schedule and repeat meetings.
AI notes
AI notes in meetings you host is off to start. Turn it on to start AI notes in your meetings; while it's off, neither you nor your co-hosts can. It's kept with your account, not just this device. With it on, each meeting can also start AI notes automatically, chosen when you schedule it, on its page or on your Personal room page.
How AI notes are made: On this computer, with Chrome's built-in AI, or with Your own AI key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek or OpenRouter. Your key stays in this browser. See AI notes.
Accessibility
FaceOn follows your device for reduced motion, contrast and text size. These settings cover what your device can't know:
- Single-key shortcuts, such as ? for the list of shortcuts, and holding Space to talk when Push to talk is on. Turn them off if you use speech input or a switch device.
- Keyboard shortcuts: every shortcut, with your computer's keys, listed right there. See Keyboard shortcuts.
Account
Your picture, name, sign-in methods and password. See Your account.
