Choose a layout
Select Layout at the top right of the meeting:
- Auto picks for you. In a call with one other person, they fill the screen and you're in the corner. With more people, everyone shares the screen. A shared screen takes the main spot.
- Gallery shows everyone at the same size.
- Speaker shows whoever is talking, large, with everyone else in a strip beside or under them, wherever leaves them bigger. In a call with one other person, you're in the corner, as in Auto.
- Spotlight shows only whoever is talking, or the shared screen.
In the same menu, Hide self view hides your own tile from you (others still see you), and Hide tiles without video leaves out people whose camera is off.
Pin someone
Select ⋯ on a person's tile, then Pin for me. They stay large on your screen until you unpin them. Nobody else sees the change.
Hosts and co-hosts can select Pin for everyone to put someone on everyone's main screen.
See who's talking
The person speaking gets a green outline, and green bars beside their name move with their voice. When their camera is off, a ring pulses around their picture.
Keep the meeting in view
In Chrome and Edge on a computer, select More, then Open picture-in-picture. A small window stays on top of your other tabs and apps, showing whoever is talking or the shared screen, with Mute, Video, Raise hand and Leave.
Chrome can also open it by itself when you switch to another tab or app during a meeting, including when you share one. It asks you the first time. To stop it, turn off Open picture-in-picture automatically in Settings, under Video.
Full screen
Select More, then Full screen. Press Esc to leave full screen.
On a phone
The video fills the screen, and the controls step aside a few seconds after you last touch them. Tap the video to bring them back, and tap it again to send them away.
They stay while a menu or panel is open, while you share your screen, and while you're the only one here. While they're away, a small strip at the top shows if your mic is off, your hand is up, AI notes are on or time is running out.
With a keyboard, any key brings them back. With a screen reader, select Show meeting controls: they then stay until you tap the video.
