Join a meeting

Open the link, check your camera and microphone, and join.

  1. Open the meeting link you were sent.
  2. In the preview, check that people will see and hear you:
    • Turn your microphone and camera on or off with the buttons on the preview.
    • Choose a Microphone, Speaker and Camera below it.
    • Say something. When the meter moves, it says Your mic is working.
    • Select Play a test sound to check your speaker.
  3. Enter your name if you're not signed in.
  4. To change the picture people see when your camera is off, select your avatar beside your name. Without an account, your choice is kept on this device for next time.
  5. If the link doesn't include the passcode, enter it. It's in the meeting invitation.
  6. Select Join now.

To change anything else first (noise suppression, push to talk, your camera's settings, a background), select Settings on the preview. It's the same as Settings in the meeting, and it's there while you wait to be let in, too.

To join without turning anything on, select Join without audio and video.

Join with a meeting ID

On Home (or, without an account, on FaceOn's front page or the sign-in page), enter the 10-digit meeting ID or paste the link (or the whole invitation) in Meeting ID or link, then select Join.

If the meeting has a passcode, you'll be asked for it. Links usually include the passcode, so you won't need to type it.

If it says something's wrong

FaceOn checks the meeting before opening it, and says what's wrong right under the field:

  • A meeting ID has 10 digits. Check you have all of them. Spaces and dashes don't matter.
  • There's no meeting with that ID. A digit may be off. Check the invitation, or ask the host to send the link.
  • That link is for another site. It's a link to another meeting app, or to another copy of FaceOn. Open it in your browser instead.
  • That link's meeting ID isn't complete. Some of the link was cut off. Copy the whole link again.
  • The meeting has ended, was cancelled, or its link has expired. Ask the host for a new link.
  • Too many tries. After a few wrong IDs, wait a few minutes before trying again.

Opening a link that doesn't work shows the same explanation, with a field to try another meeting ID or link.

If you have to wait

  • The host hasn't started yet. You'll join as soon as they do. Keep the page open.
  • The meeting has a waiting room. Select Ask to join. The host or a co-host lets you in.
  • The meeting is locked or full. Ask the host, then try again.

Joining without an account

If the host allows guests, all you need is the link and a name. Sign in instead if you'd like the meeting to show in your Previous list.
